Obituary of Constance Sheehan
Constance Sheehan (nee Campbell), age 91, a life long resident of Ridgefield Park, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late John Sheehan. The greatest joy in her life were her cherished daughters, the late Casandra Campbell O’Brien, Danielle Scaturro and her wife Kirstie Johnson. Constance was the endeared aunt of Jeanne Guilliams and her husband Bryan, Ed Barton and his wife Maggie, Mark Campbell, Christine Hardy and her husband Brian, and Suzanne Clark and her husband Ron. Proud great aunt of Madison, Bryanna, Liam, Emily, Claire, Joseph, Robert, and Kevin. She was the loving sister of Judith C. Barton and her husband James, and the late Robert E. Campbell and his wife Dorothy.
Constance was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Blanche C. (nee Patton) and the late Edward A. Campbell. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education and was the first woman in the State of New Jersey to be appointed to teach ESL (English as a Second Language). She developed the ESL program for the Hudson County School District. She pursued her passion as an ESL Teacher supporting English learning students to help them achieve academic success. Constance was a very active member of her community. She was very involved in community theatre with the St Francis Players. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church and sang in the choir amongst her many friends. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and Catholic Daughters of the Americas dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism, and community service. Constance loved spending time with family and friends and truly enjoyed sharing life’s happiest moments with others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation in Constance’s honor will be held on Monday, August 26th beginning at 10 A.M. at Vorhees funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis R.C. Church at 11 A.M. Constance will be laid to rest alongside her husband and daughter at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus.
