I’m totally bereft upon Gumby’s passing. I truly miss the man who sat with his best friend Bruce and me in the back room of the H&L company on many Friday nights. When Bruce passed a few years back, I was able to memorialize him. Now, they renew their friendship in the light of God’s grace and eternity.
His biggest joys were the simplest things and his simplest joys were very basic: Ronnie his wife, Fire service his career, and nature, his passion. Whether it be his fur babies, Alaskan wilderness, gardening projects or hunting with his brother George, he was 110% there! Same was true with joining Ronnie to make her accomplishments shine or their married life flourish.
I wish there were more I could say to alleviate the grief that besets all too many of us. However I do know that the Lord readily welcome an individual like Gumby: gentle and humble of heart. He lived his career and his life by the basic most of Matthew’s Gospel. May what comes next reflect the Lord’s shining grace.
