I was sorry to read of Mary's passing. My mother, Catherine Houston, and Mary spent many an hour together in the kitchen of the Elks Club. And they were both very active in the Emblem Club. My mother always spoke fondly (and often) of Mary. My condolences to her family.

I have known Mary for some 35 years. Our friendship began when I joined the Ridgefield Park Elks and she was working the Friday Fish Fry. Very quickly we became friends and cooking buddies. We not only worked fish fry but catering and lots of lodge events. Mary always said I was in charge but somehow it never felt that way, which was probably a good thing. Mary was more than just a cooking companion, she was a mentor, advisor and shared her wisdom with many of us at the Elks. We were her children! Her love and support for us knew no bounds. Her passing is leaving an empty spot in our hearts. Mary will be missed. She will be remembered with an affection by many as few others have been. Rest in Peace, Mary, we'll see you on the other side.

I will remember Mary Cable as a person with a kind heart always serving and helping people for many years. She was a member of Emblem Club #101 and The Elks Club #1506 of Ridgefield Park.
