Agnew, Arthur, James, age 84 of Ridgefield Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017. James served in the United States Army as a Military Police officer during the Korean War . He was a graduate of Englewood High School and Montclair State University. He was signed to a minor league contract to play professional baseball and was a part of the Atlanta Braves organization. As a pitcher he was inducted into the Metropolitan Baseball League Hall of Fame. After graduating college, he enjoyed a career as a Physical Education teacher and worked for over 30 years at Fort Lee High School. James had a long coaching career on the high school level with baseball, softball and track. James was also a member of the Kearny Scots club of New Jersey and was an avid golfer.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria (nee Zash). He is survived by his loving son’s James Agnew and his wife Adriana and Clint Agnew and his wife Samantha. Cherished grandfather to Briana, Tyler and Ryan. Funeral Service Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home 59 Main Street Ridgefield Park Thursday May 4, 2017 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park.. Visitation Wednesday May 3,2017 4-9pm. pm. Vorheesingwersen.com
