Growing up on Gordon St., we shared a backyard gate and so very much more with the Iorlano family. We kids were inseparable tearing up the neighborhood on our bikes, pool hopping with the Maio crew, playing every sport possible that a street would allow (the manhole cover was home plate, someone's side-view mirror was first base, a chalk mark second base, and the telephone pole third base), it was absolute paradise coming of age in RP.
Josephine (as we knew her), Lucille (our Mom), Johanna Maio, and sometimes Chickie Todd were the original coffee klatch, rotating kitchens to enjoy 8 o'clock coffee brewed on the stove, Stella Doro anisette toast cookies, far too many cigarettes, and the goings on of their/our everyday lives. How lucky we were. If only we can freeze that moment in time.
My sincere condolences to the entire Iorlano family and my loving thanks for the lives we shared together.
