Obituary of Adele Lax
PARK RIDGE - Adele (Knaub) Lax passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024.
She was born on July 22, 1938 in Hoboken, NJ to Albert and Martha Knaub. Adele grew up in North Bergen with her four oldest siblings, Elaine, Albert, Katherine, and Louis.
Adele graduated from Emerson High School in Union City, NJ, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Bob Lax. They married in St. Francis Church on May 3, 1958 and resided in Ridgefield Park, NJ for nearly 30 years. Adele is survived by her three children: Robert Lax of Paramus, NJ, Laurie Southard (James) of Park Ridge, NJ, and Leslie Lax of Tampa, FL. She was the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren; Robert Lax, Amanda Lax, Matt Gutjahr, Taylor Lax, Mark Gutjahr, Mike Gutjahr, and Mack Gutjahr. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren; Landon Lax, Colton Lax, and Emma Adele Lax as well as many nieces and nephews and her beloved sister, Katherine.
Adele lived her life dedicated to her children and her church. While we mourn her loss, we take immense comfort knowing that she is with our father in Heaven. A woman of such child-like faith, Adele was always the first person you went to when you needed an extra prayer to be said. She took that responsibility very seriously; she would always offer up any of her struggles for the sake of another struggling soul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Park Ridge, NJ on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, we ask that any contributions please be made to Family Promise of Bergen County.
Thank you to all the caregivers that were instrumental on a daily basis. We are very grateful.
“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end, He will stand on Earth. After my skin has been destroyed, I will see God.”
