Obituary of Kathleen Hubert

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kathleen (nee McCloskey) Hubert, 71, of Ridgefield Park passed peacefully and surrounded by so much love on June 6, 2024 after a valiant fight with cancer and a full life, well-lived.

Daughter of the late Margaret and John McCloskey, cherished wife of the late Christopher Hubert (2015), sister of Fr. John McCloskey and Kevin (Sharon) McCloskey, sister-in-law of Thomas (Barbara) Hubert, Lawrence (Angela) Hubert, and Katherine Marie Hubert and the best aunt to Rachel (Louis) Vele, Krystal (Matthew) Higgins, Joseph (Marlene) Hubert, Christian (Brianne) Hubert, and Terence (Victoria) Hubert. A parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi, Kathy and her unwavering dedication to kindness, her family, community, and faith leave everyone who knew her inspired and grateful.

Raised in Hawthorne and a graduate of DePaul Catholic High School, William Paterson University (B.S.), and Fairleigh Dickinson University (M.S.), Kathy was employed at Good Housekeeping and Reckitt in product safety compliance until retiring in 2018. She had a life-long love of learning and research that expanded well beyond the workplace. She had a brilliant mind and was always positive and fully accepting of fate, even in the most trying times.  A former softball and basketball coach, she fondly told stories of helping the underdogs to build confidence and surprise their opponents, even if it might’ve cost a game here or there— after all, she showed people their worth in each role she held. Among many interests and hobbies, she enjoyed researching family history and ancestry, and valued supporting her town and local small businesses.  She took her civic responsibility seriously, always aiming to create a positive impact by carefully choosing where to shop and which charities to support.  Her passion for travel, history and discovery brought her on so many beautiful adventures, but enjoying the solace of Bonaire or Maui, and celebrating with friends in Vegas and Florida were among her favorites.  She leaves behind many life-long friends, her siblings, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who will forever be grateful for her steadfast support and positive presence in their lives, and who will remember her and her husband every day, but especially each Christmas season with trains under their trees, and lively celebrations, just as she’d have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Francis Food Pantry (114 Mount Vernon Street Ridgefield Park, NJ 07660) are welcomed.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 10th from 4-8pm at Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home, 59 Main Street Ridgefield Park, NJ 07660.
Mass will be held at 11am Tuesday at St. Francis R.C. Church in Ridgefield Park, followed by interment at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
