John (Johann) G. Rehm, 86, a life long resident of Ridgefield Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 10, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Janet (nee Beland) Rehm. John was the love of her life and she always told him that he was the best thing that ever happened to her. He was the devoted father to Lisa and her fiancé Roy, Cynthia Rose and her husband Greg, Nancy and her husband Eric, and his son John.

The greatest joy in his life were his cherished grandchildren Sarah, Gregory, Kristen, Kellie, Lauren, Isabelle, Alec, and Johnathan, and great grandson Austin.  He is also survived by his endeared sister Rita Ramagalia, and predeceased by his siblings Tillie, Franz, Rudy, Annmarie, Traudl, Alfrieda, Henrica, and Ursella. 

 

John was born in Buchloe, Germany to the late Rosalia (nee Jung) and the late Heinrich Rehm.  He immigrated to the United States in 1956 and proudly joined the U.S. Army.  John worked as a Butcher at Karl Elmer in New York, and became the store manager for 49 Years.  He then worked at the Bergen County Court for 8 years as a Clerk before his retirement.  John was very active in his community he was the past Commander for the American Legion Post #40, the Ridgefield Park Seniors, and a faithful parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church serving as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister.  John loved to promote a sense of group connection to encourage other community members to express their beliefs and values.  He was a very kind and caring person and was very attentive to the needs of others and was always willing to provide support when needed.  John was a family man and adored his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.  John wanted to provide the best life for his children and emphasized the need for family values.  He was a great friend and confidant, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

 

A visitation will be held in John’s honor on Tuesday, May 14th beginning at 4 PM and concluding at 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 15th, 11 AM at St. Francis R.C. Church.  He will be laid to rest at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee.

 

In Lieu of flowers please make donations in John’s memory to the St. Francis Food Pantry at 114 Mt. Vernon Street Ridgefield Park, NJ 07660
