Obituary of Patricia Audrey Orth

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Patricia Audrey Orth (nee Imerito) of Ridgefield Park, NJ entered into eternal life surrounded by family on April 4th, 2023 at the age of 88. Known to most as Audrey, she was born in Jersey City, NJ and spent her childhood living in Bergen and Hudson Counties before graduating from Weehawken High School in 1952. Audrey started work as a bookkeeper at Reinhold Publishing in New York City, NY.  She first met her future husband Richard after he returned from service in the Air Force during the Korean War in 1954. Audrey and Richard were married at St. Michael’s Monastery in Union City, NJ in 1956. The same parish where she was baptized in 1934.

Audrey was a loving, attentive wife to the late Richard H. Orth, whom she missed dearly. For a short period they resided in Fairview, NJ before they moved to Ridgefield Park, where they lived together for over 60 years and raised their five children. She was a loving mother for Richard M. and his wife Margaret, Linda Bovee and her late husband Peter, William and his wife Michelle, Dennis and his wife Lisa, and Derek and his wife Jeanine.

After her children finished school, Audrey returned to work in 1988 as a clerk for Bergen County in the Department of General Services until she retired in 2004. Audrey and Richard loved to host parties and entertain, especially on the Fourth of July. She loved to cook for her friends and family, with a strong influence from her Italian and Irish heritage. She carried on the tradition of Bagna Cauda, one of her favorite family gatherings. Her meals were always well planned, especially her Sunday dinners. She looked forward to hosting her family on the holidays. No matter what the occasion, you could always expect dessert at Audrey’s with cake, coffee and the best tea served, before you left.

In addition to her five children, she was blessed with thirteen grandchildren. She was the loving grandmother of Jessica, Peter, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Meagan, Daniel, Patrick,  Zachary, Liam, Emily, Rebecca, Kaelin and Kelsey. Adoring great grandmother to James, Peter & Aaron.

Audrey was the much-loved youngest daughter of the late Margaret and Dante Imerito. She was the endeared sister of Anita Schumacher, whom she looked forward to speaking with every Tuesday. She was predeceased by her brother, Howard Imerito, and sister Margaret “Chickie” Shafron. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, whom she cherished dearly.
