Obituary of Gloria A DeCandia

Please share a memory of Gloria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gloria A. DeCandia (nee Ruggeri) was a cherished grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 92 years of life.  She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 5, 2023.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter DeCandia.  Devoted mother of Patricia DeCandia Hellmann (Christopher), Donna Rann (Charlie), and Dominick DeCandia.  The greatest joy in her life were her grandchildren Lauren Morton (James), Rachel, Laura, and Steven, and great grandchildren Taylor and Emily.  She was the endeared sister of the late Albert Ruggeri and Frederick Ruggeri.

Gloria was born to Rose (nee Carerra) and Anthony Ruggeri. She was goal orientated and had the ambition and willingness for hard work to become an entrepreneur and became the business owner of Glo Taylors & Cleaners in Palisades Park, NJ. When not at the store, she would spend her time cooking, crocheting and reading romance books. She loved to shop, travel, go to Broadway shows and watch her grandchildren perform in sports, theatrical and music programs. She never missed an opportunity to share a meal or spend time with her friends and family.

Gloria was an active member of the Ridgefield Senior Citizens Organization leading several committees including the Travel Committee and Nutrition, ultimately serving as President for one year. She was also an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Gloria will be remembered for her joy of life and welcoming smile. She will be sadly missed and leaves loved ones with nothing but fond memories.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 beginning at 1 PM and concluding at 5 PM
