Obituary of Nancy Lorenzo
Encarna (Nancy) Lorenzo of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey passed away on March 3, 2023. She was 93 years old.
Nancy was born on July 13, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to Maria and Cristobal Galvez. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Manuel Lorenzo and shared 55 happy years with “her Manny”, raising two daughters.
Nancy earned a degree in Biology from Hunter College and pursued her MA at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She began her career as a research scientist testing the effectiveness of fluoride on teeth by brushing hundreds of hamsters’ teeth daily. She eventually found her niche teaching high school biology for over 35 years at Wood Ridge High School. Nancy belonged to several organizations and clubs; NEA (National Education Association), NJEA (New Jersey Education Association), BCREA( Bergen County Retired Education Association) and WREA(Wood Ridge Education Association). In 1989, she was the recipient of WRHS Teacher Of The Year Award and upon retirement was very active in the Ridgefield Park Senior Center.
Nancy was incredibly proud of her entire family, her Spanish heritage and her students. All who knew her, knew that she was fiercely loyal to those she loved. She brightened hearts with her vivacious personality and outspoken sense of humor. Nancy was a selfless individual always helping her children and grandchildren at every opportunity. She created fond memories that will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who encountered her.
We find comfort in knowing she is reunited in heaven with her brothers and sisters and dancing with her true love, Manny, once again.
