Obituary of Raul Omar Alban

Please share a memory of Raul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Raul Omar Alban, of Ridgefield Park, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the age of 76 years.

Omar was born in Puerto Lopez, Ecuador to the late Noemi Mendoza and Carlos Alban Montalvan and came to this country as an immigrant.  It was a tough and long journey with hardships, close family losses, and the struggle to keep others happy and comfortable. Omar took pride in work ethic and worked two full time jobs for over 30 years.

In the face of adversity Omar always relied on his heart to adapt and adjust.  He was a father, husband, grandfather and so many other things to so many people.  He fought for his family, sacrificed for others, and was selfless with his knowledge of the unimportance of money while acknowledging what was truly important.  He had a unique common sense which came with morals and values and he always treated others with dignity and consideration.

Omar had the will to help everyone and anyone. Whether it be income, advice, his pain, or his heart.  People who have met him once refer to him as extraordinary.  He touched so many lives, offering love to strangers, and always speaking with an open mind.

He found peace in the presence of family and in knowing someone else was doing well. Life to him was sharing a laugh on a beautiful day. You could say he was a “don’t mention it” type of person.

Father, husband, grandfather - titles earned and defended like a champion. He was the best in the world. He played that role for everyone including cousins, friends effortlessly with no expectations of something in return. Omar taught so many life lessons. One of them that stands out is, “have more than you need, better to have something left than come up short.” Which as a simple lesson about expenses, taught us to strive to give it your all. Omar was a true role model, and proud father, husband and grandfather.  His peace, understanding, strength and love will always be envied by his family. All of these qualities were so above average. We were all blessed to have him in our lives. For that, we are grateful. He will be missed and remembered in a beautiful light that he shared with everyone.  It was his time; in time we will find peace in the fact that he has his.

Beloved husband of Maura (Giler) Alban. Devoted father of Maura Valentin and her husband Eric, Catalina Alban and her husband Janin Toledo, Raul Alban, and Monica Alban and her wife Lilliana. Cherished grandfather of Aleah and Mao.
