George Archie Wright, of Long Beach, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the age of 90 years. George was known to his closest friends as “Zeke”. Everyone who knew George loved his smile, laugh, kindness and humanity. George was born in Muskegon, Michigan. After graduating High School, George joined the Coast Guard. While stationed in NYC, George met the love of his life, Marlene and they married and settled in the Bronx, NY. After being honorably discharged from the Coast Guard he began his career as a Tugboat Captain. He worked for many companies over his 55 years as a captain, including Hess Oil and Red Star Towing of New York. Beloved son of the late Hazel (nee Van Brunt) and Archie Wright. Devoted husband of Marlene (nee Kessler) Wright who passed away in 2020. The most loving, wonderful father of Alison King and son-in-law James. Predeceased by beautiful daughters Candi and Linda. Cherished grandfather. Dearest brother of the late Dorothy. Recently reconnected with his beautiful, beloved niece, Regina Coffey Lankford. Visitation will be on Monday, March 28th from 4PM to 8PM with a funeral service at 6PM. Cremation is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
