Obituary of Barbara Elizabeth Romano
Barbara Elizabeth (nee Just) Romano, formerly of Ridgefield Park, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
Born in Romania, she lived in Romania, Austria, the Bronx (NYC) and New Jersey. Her accent confused more than one person. She worked as an administrative assistant in NYC before moving to Ridgefield Park to raise her family with her husband Joseph, the love of her life. After taking computer courses to update her skills, she returned to work and worked with a steel importer until her retirement. She was an avid reader, with a penchant for gothic romance. She loved detective shows, especially murder mysteries. She was talented at sewing/knitting/crochet, even teaching her daughter (no trivial task). A bit of a perfectionist, she was rarely fully satisfied with her creations no matter how beautiful. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her calm demeanor, her infectious smile and laugh.
Happily married for over fifty years to the late Joseph Romano. She will be greatly missed by her loving daughter Julia, son-in-law Calvin, and son Joseph. Loving sister of John Tomansky and his wife Marie and the late Margaret Kreuter and her late husband George. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be offered 11AM on Saturday, April 23rd at St. Francis R.C. Church in Ridgefield Park. Visitation will be held at Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home on Friday from 7pm to 9pm. Interment will be private at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Florida.
