Dear Joseph and Family, You mother, my Aunt Flo, was my godmother, pictured below with my godfather, George, back in 1957. I always felt special because my father's only sister was MY godmother. As you mentioned, Armstrong Avenue was in a league of its own and the people from that home had some strong foundations and bonds built on living together through the depression years. We are all blessed to be descendants of the 173 crew! I'm sure they are all together now having a wonderful Irish gathering that undoubtedly has both beer and ice cream on the menu. Thank you for taking care of her these past years. May she rest in peace. Love, Sherry

Thank you so much for your kind words, it has been a difficult time, I am blessed to have had her for 91 years but she deserved to pass in a better way.

Dear Joseph and Family - Flo and I shared a very special bond - both being firefighter wives. It is not an easy job, but she did it with grace, love, and patience, and I hope to emulate her lifelong support of a man who made his living taking care of the people in his community. Firefighter husbands have two families, one at home and one at the station. We have to share and it’s not always easy, but you would never know that because Flo did it beautifully. Thank you for caring for her the way you did. I’m sure she is standing, pain free, with her fireman now. There’s no better place to be. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. The JCFD was a huge part of my parents lives and they were married for 54 years so no doubt it worked, she is missed by all. Thank you for your kind words

Aunt Flo - A strong and beautiful lady inside and out with a heart of gold. You did not leave this earth before your work was done. The love and care you gave to your parents, husband, son and extended family while setting an example for the next generation that one can only hope to follow. You were right behind your brother Michael from birth until God called the both of you home. Gone from our sight, but never from our memories that I will treasure forever. May you rest in peace. You were the total package, Aunt Flo. Smart & vivacious. A daughter that a parent could count on, career woman, then Uncle Joe's girlfriend for life, involved mother and a dedicated, supportive grandparent. Did I mention sports fan too? I'll always remember your marvelous stories and the classy way you moved through life. This picture of you and your sweetheart sits by my living room chair where I'd always sit and have phone conversations with you. You are one of my role models in the way you laughed and loved and took care of all your family while always looking great doing so. Love always, Carolyn
