Obituary of William E. Grater, III
William E. Grater III, of the NJ Firemen's Home in Boonton (formerly of Toms River and Ridgefield Park), passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the age of 84. William aka "Red", "Big Bill" and "Poppy" was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired alarm technician for ADT Security Services, Clifton. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Village of Ridgefield Park for over 28 years, member of the American Legion, a Ridgefield Park Boy Scout leader and a volunteer coach for many sports. While in Toms River, he was a volunteer for the Holiday City Berkeley First Aid Squad and a member of many clubs in the HCB Clubhouse. Beloved husband of the late Marlene E (nee Bramley). Loving father of William A Grater Sr (wife Tracy), Marjorie Van Dorn (husband James), Kathleen Rhode (husband Ray), Lori Mohsen (husband Sham), and Joy Grater. Cherished grandfather of Megan, William Jr and Ben Grater, Colleen Van Dorn, Holly Capriola (husband Sal), Ryan Grater-Rhode (wife Natalie), Michael Rhode, Jessika and Dylan Mohsen, Brittany Loria, Rebecca and Brandon Grater. Adoring great grandfather of five great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents William and Marjorie, and his siblings Margaret, MaryEllen, Tom, Ken and Jack. Visitation will be at Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home on Friday, February 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 27th at 10:00 am with a prayer service at 10:45 am. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus at 11:30 am.
