Ingwersen, John C., age 83, of North Haledon NJ peacefully passed away at home on Thursday October 29, 2015. Born on October 21, 1932 in the city of Wyk on the Island of Fohr in Germany, he arrived in America in 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1960, together with his sister Christa and his brothers, Bernhard and Ernie, opened North Haledon’s notable landmark, Ingwersen’s Delicatessen. Together they gladly served the community for the next 49 years. In his retirement, John was “Mr. Fix-it” at the Belmont Bakery, owned by his daughter, Kathy. John was a long time member of The Foehrer and Amrumer Verein in New York. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to his “sweetheart”, Helga (nee Mueller), devoted father to Christine and her husband Jack Fannin, Katharine and her husband, Thomas Kelly, and Donald J. Ingwersen, dear brother to Kurt and his wife Thelma Ingwersen and the late Christa, Dieter, Bernie, and Ernie Ingwersen. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Scott, Brian and Meghan and 4 great grandchildren. Religious service Monday 11am at the DeLuccia-Lozito Funeral Home, 265 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, NJ. Entombment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visitation Sunday 2-6pm.Arrangements entrusted to Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home.
