Tia Loleng was the only grand aunt my four children – Joel, Julius, Gizelle, and Jinky – knew well and were more familiar with. She saw them grow up from their growing up days to adulthood to finishing their college education to settling on their own with their respective families and way of life. She was very proud of them and loved them dearly
We recall with fondness how, when Tong and the two girls aged 10 and 8 arrived in New York in June 1988 for Tong’s posting as Philippine Consul in New York, she volunteered to have the biggest room in her Manhattan apartment for a token rent for almost a year and then the five of us for another six months with the arrival of Joel, Julius and myself when the La Salle Greenhills school year ended in March 1989; and more importantly how she would herself cooked for all of us and to accompany the girls to a Catholic school nearby and to fetch them after class. These invaluable acts of love, care and kindness, my children would not forget as they visited her periodically and as on her death they went personally to her wake to pay their highest and most solemn respects.
Once again, thank you very much Tia Loleng/Lola Lols on my own, on behalf of Tong and your grand children by us: Joel/Pauline, Julius/Cords, Gizelle/Dmitry, and Jinky/Chilin; and on behalf of your grandchildren by them: Grace, Jamie, Sophia, Alana, Kai, Arielle, Kara and Kenneth.
You will always be in our hearts.
May the Almighty God have you in His keeping.

She is now in eternal life with her parents Ambrosio Felix and Crisanta Torres, sisters Fidela Ona and my mother Diosdada de Guzmán, brothers Pacífico and Wenceslao whom we knew, and two other brothers whom we knew only as names on a gravestone: Teófilo and Avelino. Tía Lols was the youngest and the favorite of that family, finally reunited.
