Our hearts go out to you at this very sad time. From the early days of soccer through Christmas and birthday parties galore, even as we all went our own ways and children grew up and moved on, Doug was always a friendly face and a warm greeting. May he rest in peace.

My family and I are stunned and terribly sad to hear that Doug has passed away. He was such a charismatic, vigorous, loving, larger-than-life person that it is hard to believe he is gone, especially at such an early age.
Doug had a heart of gold when it came to children, and it was obvious that he loved his own wonderful daughters immensely. Much of the time I spent with him was in the context of our daughters’ activities, including coaching soccer together, and I marveled at his ability to build kids’ confidence and self-esteem. No one could greet or praise a child with such unbridled enthusiasm or evoke a bigger smile. He was of course a great competitor, yet he was also the only parent or coach I ever saw who would call out compliments to opposing players or encouragement to the opposing team if it fell too far behind. I am grateful for the memories, for our shared experiences, for the hours chatting together on the road or sidelines, and for the many stories and laughs.
Our love and deepest condolences to Maureen and to Kirstin, Hannah, and Sarah. We hope the wonderful memories will gradually help ease your grief. Take care of yourselves; your father cared for nothing more than the happiness and wellbeing of his daughters.

Dougie
My pal from way back we used to run around the apple trees in your parents huge back yard on Central Boulevard as kids. Later we came of age together and had many many great times. Your passing reminds me of my own mortality. May you shine in the eternal light and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. I will never forget that hand of yours that mine would disappear into when shaking it- a mitt I used to call it . And the time my German Shepherd tore around the corner of my house clipped your legs and sent you flying. Not easy to do to a guy your size and you were just a kid when that happened. We will all be together soon enough when God calls us to him as he has called you. Farewell my friend until we meet again. Tell Fez hi for me
Yours truly
Peter

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Doug was one of the first people we met when coming to Lewisboro. He was fixture at just about every sporting events and it was always a pleasure to run into him at the DeCicco's plaza when he was working at the Hardware Store. He always talked about Hannah, Kirsten and Sarah and how proud he was of them. A life taken too young, he will be missed greatly.

I remember first meeting Doug when he was a teenager living at home in Bethoage. He was holding "Mrs" the family cat on his lap. He had a way with animals and they loved him as well. Even the aloof ones! He was the same way with people and had the gift of making folks feel at ease with his friendly personality. I got to know Doug more this last year when he moved here to NJ. He was always ready to greet you with a warm hug. I'm going to miss him and his larger than life good-natured personality.

Was so so sad to hear about Doug's passing. I shared wonderful times with him when we coached the girls together. We laughed so much and Doug just " got the joke". He was one of my first friends in the neighborhood. I will always remember the bear hugs, the shorts in the winter, the amazing - truly amazing father he was, the lack of pretentiousness and his laughs. He was generous to a fault. Ellen and I are visiting our daughter Emily in New Mexico. Know we are thinking of all the Langs and praying that Doug's wonderful memory helps to give you comfort. Love always. Jimmy and Ellen Cappa.
