Vena, Vincent Francis, 94, of Ridgefield Park passed away February 21, 2017. Born December 12, 1922 in NYC to Elena (nee Cannizzaro) and John Vena, immigrants of Italy, Vinnie was a lifetime resident of his beloved Ridgefield Park. Vincent was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corp In the Pacific. Vinnie was a 59-year member of the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department Hook & Ladder Truck #2, served as Fire Chief in 1971 and was a member of the NJ Exempt Firemen Association. He was also a charter member of the RP Rescue Squad. Vinnie was employed by Lever Brothers in Edgewater and after his retirement became a courier for the RP Board of Education. Vincent is survived by daughters, Susan Vena of Fort Lee, NJ and Janet Ballard of Huntsville, AL and granddaughter Victoria Ballard. Predeceased February 5, 2017 by his wife of 59 years, Thelma M. (nee Coker). Also predeceased by siblings Philomena Deppert, John J. Vena, Jr., Frances Yotka, Gloria Vena and Edmund Vena. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 23, 4-8 pm and Friday, February 24, 9-9:30 am at the Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home, 59 Main St., Ridgefield Park. Funeral Mass 10 am Friday at Saint Francis R.C. Church, 114 Mt. Vernon St., Ridgefield Park. Cremation private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the RP Volunteer Fire Department Truck #2, 93 Hazelton St., Ridgefield Park, NJ 07660. Vorheesingwersen.com
