Obituary of Rita C Lewis

Rita C. Lewis, 98 of Greencastle Pa., formerly of Ridgefield Park NJ and Plymouth Pa. passed peacefully on March 7, 2025. Born October 23, 1926 in Plymouth Pa to Frank and Mary Brozena, she enjoyed growing up as the youngest of 7 sibling’s. After graduating from Plymouth High School, Rita attended nursing school at Jewitt Nurses Training School, Bushwick Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

She was a proud graduate and member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp during WW II, after meeting the love of her life, she devoted her life to raising her family.

Rita was dedicated to her Catholic Faith, devoted to her family and proud of her Polish heritage.  She was curious throughout her long life, loving to read, learn and travel. An animated storyteller, she enjoyed sharing the many, many stories and adventures she accumulated over the course of her lifetime.

Predeceased by her loving husband David W. Lewis Jr., her daughter Lorraine R. Dublanica and her grandson Jesse C. Dublanica.

She is cherished by her children, David W. Lewis III, Joan Powell Vega (Ray Vega), son-in-law Peter C. Dublanica, Carol J. Leo (Michael Leo), 13 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.  This is not good-bye, just “Bye for Now”.

A Visitation in Rita’s honor will be held on Tuesday, March 11th, beginning at 4 P.M. and concluding at 8 P.M.  Funeral Mass, Wednesday, March 12th, 11 A.M. at St. Francis R.C. Church, Ridgefield Park.  Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA on March 13th, at 9:40 A.M.
