Obituary of Antonio DiVerita
Antonio DiVerita, born January 23, 1934, of Ridgefield Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 23, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 67 years to Fedora (nee Gianatiempo) DiVerita, and devoted father of Rocco DiVerita and his wife Theresa Impeduglia, and the late Nicolina Menta and her husband Harry. The greatest joy in his life was being a cherished nonno to Catherine Menta, Gabrielle, Gianna, and Antonio DiVerita, who he enjoyed to walk them through his garden proudly showing off his vegetables, teaching them to fish, and most importantly teaching them the true meaning to love God and family. Antonio was the endeared uncle of Carmela Annarumma, Rocco Tenebruso, Carmine Iannone, Rosaria Curatolo, and the late Vito Tenebruso. He is also predeceased by his sisters Assunta Iannone and Gerardina Tenebruso.
Born in Quaglietta, Italy, he spent his early years working tirelessly on the family farm. He honorably served his country for two years, and later studied to become a mastered Tailor. In 1965 Antonio immigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American dream, and his family joined him the following year in 1966. Antonio worked for the Department of Public Works in his hometown, where he was affectionately known as “Tony”-the man with a warm, gentle smile and an even bigger heart. Walking through the township parks, you would quickly notice the perfectly trimmed bushes, neatly cut grass at the perfect height, and well stocked sandboxes-all a testament to his dedication to his community he cared for as if it were his own home. After retirement, he found peace in the quiet beauty of upstate New York, where the rolling hills and dense forests reminded him of his homeland. He tended to his garden with care, found joy in trout fishing, and relished the thrill of rabbit hunting alongside his loyal companions his Beagles. Antonio especially treasured the November deer hunting trips with his nephews. Nearly every Sunday during soccer season, he could be found watching Italian RAI TV, passionately cheering on his great Napoli team to victory. A man of deep faith, he held a profound devotion to our lord Jesus, St. Rocco, and St. Anthony, carrying their presence in his heart each day. His strength and kindness were unwavering, defining the remarkable man he was.
