Obituary of Joseph William Alberque

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph William Alberque, aged 81, a lifelong resident of Ridgefield Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted children. Joseph dedicated his life to service, family, and friendship, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment and boundless generosity. For 60 years, he served as a Ridgefield Park Volunteer firefighter at Hose Company #1, ready to protect and safeguard his town. He was also the esteemed Vice President of Hose Company #1, appointed as the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Chief in 1984, and Treasurer and Exempt member. Beyond his service he was a proud member of the E.G. Alberque Knights of Columbus. In addition to his dedication to the Ridgefield Park Fire Department, Joseph had a long and successful career as a Computer Engineer and Manager for U.S. Testing in Weehawken for many years before his retirement. His sharp mind and strong work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues, and his contributions to the field were both significant and lasting. But Joseph was more than his titles-he was the heart and soul of every gathering, the life of the party, a man who lived with laughter and kindness. He cherished his family above all else, finding happiness in every moment spent with his children, Aileen Alberque Engel (Edward), Alysia Ott (William), Karen Reynolds (Brian), and Elise Koger (Victor). The greatest joy in his life were his treasured grandchildren, Ryan, Julianna, Timothy, Charley, Brayden, Victor, Joseph, Abigail, and Connor, and endeared brother to, Edward Alberque, Dianne McNally, Richard Alberque, Michael Alberque, Rosemarie Kowalchuk, and Linda Lee Alberque. He is also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joseph enjoyed basking in the salty air of the Jersey Shore and sharing stories with family and friends. He embraced life with an open heart and fearless spirit. It was felt in every firehouse call, community event, or sharing a laugh on a summer evening. His legacy of joy and unshakable devotion to his community will be forever remembered.
