Spain, Bruce,Jay , age 66, of Little Ferry N.J. passed away on May 12, 2016. He is pre-deceased by his Parents Dorothea (nee Schlesler) and Joseph Jay Spain. Adored husband and best friend of Mary Ruffel. Beloved father to Christopher Spain of Little Ferry, N.J. Beloved brother of Susan and William Fourgerel of Mahwah, N.J., Craig and the late Gail (nee Pelletier) Spain of South Burlington, Vt., Roger and Lynn Spain of Ramsey N.J., Brian Spain of Monroe, N.Y., David and Dr. Jane Jager of Boonton, N.J., Ana and Louis Ruffel Sr. of Lodi, N.J., Lauren and Christopher Adcock of Westwood, N.J., Daniel Brown of Little Ferry, N.J., Lucille and William Weedo of Florida, Doreen Clark of Peidmont S.D., Edward and the late Diana (nee Clark) Jackson of Lyndhurst, N.J., Linda and the late John Clark of Wanaque, N.J. and “Big Brother” of Alfred Gerber III of Little Ferry, N.J. Beloved uncle to Christina, Danny, Jacquelyn, Jason, Alyson, Peter, Gregg, Crissy, Kelly, Louis Jr., Matthew, Nicholas, Jager, Robert, Darcel, Alexandra, Denise, Thea, Zachary, Sarah, Taylor, Daany and Heather. He will also be missed by his 8 great nieces and nephews. Before retiring in 2014 he worked for Time Warner Cable of Palisades Park for 40 years. Bruce was a Special Police Sergeant with the Little Ferry Police Department for 42 years, Past Captain and Life Member of the Little Ferry First Aid Squad for 32 years, Member of IBEW Local 3, Past member of Blue Knights NJ 1, North Jersey R.E.A.C.T., Little Ferry First Aid Council 24th District, Assistant Director of Emergency Management Borough of Little Ferry and the Little Ferry Civil Defense Heavy Rescue Squad. Bruce loved photography, family gatherings, camping and always brought everything including the kitchen sink. Referred to as “Big Daddy” by his adopted children Cyndy Gonzalez, Andrew Pacucci and Michael Rossi. Bruce lived and breathed service to the community in which he lived and loved. The Borough of Little Ferry has lost a great asset. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Little Ferry First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 147, Little Ferry N.J. 07643 would be much appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Voorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home 59 Main Street Ridgefield Park, N.J. Visitation will be Wednesday May 18, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at the end of visitation. Cremation is private. Vorheesingwersen.com
