Scheideler, Sr. Andrew J. age 89 a longtime resident of Ridgefield Park passed away on February 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  Andrew was born on June 24, 1928 to John and Veronica Scheideler (nee Faller).  Beloved husband of 64 years to Eleanor (nee Cooper) and father to Andrew Scheideler, Jr. and his wife Rose, Karen Luke (predeceased 1994), Diane Sharpe and her husband Gary and Nancy Dembski and her husband Stephen (predeceased 2007).  Loving grandfather to Peter Luke and his wife Amanda, Daina Scheideler, Drew Luke, Gary Sharpe, Jr. and his wife Colleen, Courtney Galasso and her husband Anthony, Raymond Dembski and Megan, A.J. Scheideler,III and Vicky and Kyle Dembski.  Great grandfather to Stephan and Ryan Sharpe.  A very special uncle to many nieces and nephews and  forever “Pop” to extended family members Donna and Phillip McEntee.  A true native son to the Village of Ridgefield Park, Andy was born and raised in “The Village”, attended St. Francis Elementary School and graduated a Scarlet from RPHS Class of 1946 and where during the 1945 football season he was selected as a 1st Team ALL STATE CENTER.  After graduation he proudly served his country as a member of the US Army.  Upon discharge, he returned home and joined Engine Co. 2 of the Ridgefield Park Fire Department in 1949.  His career spanned 41 years, serving in many capacities, culminating with being “Chief of the Department” in 1975.  He was employed by the Exxon Corporation, retiring in 1986 after 30 years.  Even after retirement he remained an active participant in Fire Company and Department functions.  He was honored by being selected the 2017 Grand Marshall of the Village’s annual 4th of July Parade.  A parishioner of St. Francis, and original coach of the RP Midget Football League, a member of both the RP VFW Post 277 and Knights of Columbus and the RP Senior Citizens.  “This is his story and he’s sticking to it”  Funeral from Vorhees –Ingwersen Funeral Home 59 Main St. Ridgefield Park on Thursday 8:45am.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis RC Church, Ridgefield Park at 10am.  Interment Maple Grove Park Cemetery, Hackensack. Visitation  Tuesday 7-9pm and  Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm.  In lieu of flowers the family request that  donations may be made to:  Engine Co 2 Ridgefield Park Fire Department in his memory.
