Orlando, Raymond,75, of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018, at NY-Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise, his children, Amy (Matthew), Raymond (Claude), Leslie (Pablo), granddaughter, Madeline, and his brother, Harry (Cheryl). Born August 11,1942 to Harry and Helen (Molinaro) he is predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael (Brigitte).
Ray worked for Johnson Motor Lines and Red Star Express, also serving as Shop Steward on both jobs. For several years prior to retiring, he was a Business Agent for Teamsters Local 560.
From the age of eight, he excelled in sports, and as a star athlete in football, basketball and baseball in his high school years, he was subsequently inducted into the Emerson Hall of Fame in 1997. He coached 9, 10, 11 boys’ basketball, and more recently Little League Majors teams in Fair Lawn for many years, through the 2017 season. An avid golfer, he could be found on the links as often as possible.
Ray was a very social person who loved the fraternalism of the Cosmos Club, and served as its Judicial Officer. Wednesday nights, however were legend- he met every week at Rudy’s in Cliffside Park for more than 40 years with friends from his youth, for fried calamari. Those who knew him will remember him fondly, and his family will miss him dearly.
Memorial Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Vorhees-Ingwersen Funeral Home, 59 Main Street, Ridgefield Park, NJ 07660. Please join the family at the Church of Saint Anne in Fair Lawn at 11:00 am for Memorial Mass on Friday, January 26, 2018.
